Did you know that there are so many interesting things around you? Each and every day there are so many new things you can learn. This will happen if you only asked yourself why things are the way they are.

Let’s take an example of our country Rwanda. Have you ever asked yourself why it’s called the land of a thousand hills?

Well there are also lakes, rivers, clouds and mountains around and there is a reason why they exist. When God placed these beautiful creations on earth, I am sure He had a purpose for them. This purpose is to help people.

People who live on earth have the responsibility to look after all their natural creations. When we protect our environment, we can then enjoy and be thankful for the beauty it brings us.

With our parents, we can go to the beach, tour national parks, and go camping in the mountains. We can also simply look around and enjoy everything.

Look up at the sky and appreciate the clouds, rainbows, sun and moon. Look at the trees and birds singing; also enjoy the sweet smelling flowers.

As children, enjoying our environment is good but what is more important is to be thankful for all people around us. These are our parents, friends, teachers, brothers and sisters and all our fellow children.

This week and the days that follow, I encourage all children to learn how to be thankful for everything and everyone.
