Friday, May 08, 2020

The Ministry of Health on Thursday, May 7 said that three COVID-19 patients recovered and reported three new cases.

This brought the tally of COVID-19 active cases to 138, against 133 recoveries.

The results were drawn from 1,519 sample tests.

A recent government survey showed that there were no community infections, prompting the government to ease the lockdown measures.

This allowed some activities to resume operations, but instructed several strict measures: citizens are urged to continue putting on masks while in public and multi-family compounds, to wash hands regularly and practice physical distancing among others.

Employers are required to allow their non-essential staff to continue working remotely or to rotate employees ensuring that a maximum of 50 per cent are in office at a time.

Schools, bars and places of worship remain closed, while taxi-moto operators are still not permitted to carry passengers.

Large gatherings such as weddings and parties remain suspended and only 30 people are allowed to attend a funeral.

Worldwide, coronavirus cases are almost hitting a million, with 1,331,014.

The casualties reported so far have been observed from 268,815 people.
