Tuesday, April 28, 2020

After four years without a music album, songstress Knowless Butera is looking to launch two albums at the same time by the end of 2020 if all goes well as she looks to celebrate 10 years of her musical journey littered with many successes.

The dates for the two albums’ launch concert will be announced later this year according to the singer.

The Primus Guma Guma Superstar Season 5 winner, real name Jeanne d’ Arc Butera, has not unveiled the names of the albums but revealed that she is already running against the clock to get them ready before the anniversary comes.

Speaking to The New Times, Knowless, who dropped her brand-new song ‘Nyigisha’ on Monday, said she intends to launch two albums at the same time to make her decade long music journey much more colourful and worth the effort.

"The year 2020 marks my ten years in this music journey and I thought dropping two albums can help me celebrate such a milestone in style. So far, the fifth album is ready, I am now busy working on the sixth. I hope to get both albums ready soon,” she said in an interview.

For the singer, her journey in music over the years has been quite challenging but successful given what she achieved and the many popular songs she dropped that won her awards locally and on the regional level.

Among the awards she scooped include Salax Awards and Primus Guma Guma Superstar prizes as well as HIPIPO Awards and Kora Awards in East African region.

"Despite all the challenges, I can say my music journey has been a successful one so far because I won every prize I contested for in this industry and, more to this, all I have now I attribute it to music,” she said

Knowless said each of the two albums comprises between 10 and 12 songs. The fifth album comprises the majority of the songs that she released after her fourth album launch since 2016, while many of the songs she has have not released yet.

Having started off as a high school student doing music from scratch with no support and no financing, Knowless says she pushed herself to make a breakthrough, against many odds, and for that reason says it is worth celebrating the milestone she reached in music during the past decade –a journey

she says has been a tough one in many ways.

"Since I finished high school, I dedicated my life to music and I was able to achieve a lot of things in life thanks to music. It’s been a journey which wasn’t easy from the very beginning but I carried on and here I am. Now I can celebrate whatever I achieved through it,” she said.

The singer says she owes credit to producers like Junior Multisystem who produced her very first song ‘Nyumva‘, which was a collaboration with then singer Young Junior as well as then top producer Lick Lick, who produced the song ‘Komera’ which earned her a big fan base a very young age.

She also emphasizes on the importance of Kina Music Label on her music development, precisely Producer and her husband Clement Ishimwe, who played a big role in pushing her music beyond the level she never imagined.

The double will mark Knowless’ fifth and sixth albums under the multi-award winning female artist’s belt after ‘Queens’ in 2016, ‘Butera’ (2014), ‘Uwo Ndi we’(2013) and ‘Komera’ in 2011.
