Saturday, March 28, 2020

Medical Students Association of Rwanda (MEDSAR) just concluded their COVID-19 awareness week, where they helped people learn more about the virus.

"As Medical students and in line with what we do, we wanted to assess what Rwandans knew about Covid19. So we gave what we called 'A Small Self Quiz on Covid19,'” Serge Ndagijimana, the President of MEDSAR.

"We also had an 'awareness week' from March 20th to 24th it was made of infographics that explain what the coronavirus is, how it spreads, its symptoms and signs and how we can prevent the spread."

They also made an explainer video that gives a good description of the virus in Kinyarwanda.

Ndagijimana explained that since the country is under lockdown due to the coronavirus, they are trying to engage as many people as possible through their social media.

MEDSAR gives free screening for some non-communicable diseases, teaches and makes aware the population on diseases and how to prevent them through their awareness weeks, among others.

Over 20 years, the Medical Students’ Association of Rwanda has been representing and empowering future doctors of the country.

It has also been a channel for students to be involved in activities that promote health.
