Women basketball: Micomyiza fires the Hoops to victory over Ubumwe

Rosine Micomyiza scored a game-high 26 points to power the Hoops Rwanda past Ubumwe in a 72-59 win at Amahoro Stadium on Sunday.

Rwandan international Rosine Micomyiza scored a game-high 26 points as her side The Hoops beat Ubumwe 72-59 in the BK National Women Basketball League on Sunday.

The victory at Amahoro Stadium saw Moise Mutokambali’s team yet again cement their status as a serious contender for the 2019/2020 league title after narrowly losing last year’s to APR. 

Marie Laurence Imanizabo and new signing Feza Isomi Ibengo contributed 15 and 11 points, respectively, to the win.

Having picked up 7 points from a possible 8 after four games, the Hoops face reigning champions APR in their next game.

And, head coach Mutokambali has challenged his players that, "It is a must-win.”

In another game held over the weekend in the women’s league, former champions IPRC–Huye edged army side APR 71-54 to stay top with a maximum 8 points.
