Top seed Joseline Umulisa has said that she will have her sights focused on the title when she takes on Olive Tuyisenge in the women’s singles final of the 2020 Heroes Tennis Tournament at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday.

The week-long competition, which attracted a total of 136 players, started Friday, February 21, and will be concluding Saturday afternoon with finals in men’s and women’s finals as well as in the wheelchair tennis category.

The men’s final will see Etienne Niyigena facing Hamissi Gatete for the top prize.

Umulisa booked her ticket to the final on Thursday after easing past Sonia Iradukunda in semi-finals.

"I have faced Olive (Tuyishime) several times in the past. It definitely is going to be a tough match, but I look forward to it.” Umulisa told this publication after securing her final berth.

"With my solid performances so far in the tournament, I can only hope to be in the same shape on Saturday (today). I will give everything to lift the trophy.”

Meanwhile, Rwandan youngster Junior Hakizumwami has been crowned as the African champion in Under-14 category as beating Madagascar’s Mahefa Rakotomalala 6-3 6-3 to win this year’s Confederation of African Tennis Championship on Thursday.

The 13-year old is undergoing a one-year scholarship program at the Kenya-based Tennis High Performance Training Centre in Nairobi.
