NORTHERN PROVINCE

GICUMBI — Parents of pupils studying at Inyange Primary School in Byumba Sector, on Saturday braved morning showers and heavy fog to clear the school play ground.

This was during community work commonly called ‘Umuganda.’

The play ground is intended to separate the newly created Inyange Secondary School play ground from that of the primary school.

"There are currently 150 first year secondary school students sharing the same school premises with over 700 primary pupils and 56 nursery children,” said the deputy headmistress of Inyange Secondary and Primary School, Marie Claire Uzamukunda.

Uzamukunda further said plans are underway to expand school premises to accommodate more secondary school students.

"In addition to providing education to pupils, our school also engages in modern agriculture and livestock farming,” she added.

The primary school has a Friesian cow and has three hectares of its land under wheat plantation.
