SC KIYOVU will be looking to end their long wait for silverware when they face holders APR in what is widely seen as the Ubutwari Cup title decider on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium.

The game starts at 3:30pm.

Victory over APR, coupled with a slip-up for third-placed Police, who face bottom side Mukura at 1pm, would see Kiyovu lifting their first trophy in eight years.

However, a draw will be enough for APR to retain the title after picking up maximum points from their first two matches against Police and Mukura.

Speaking to Saturday Sport on Friday, SC Kiyovu head coach Ruremesha said, "This is our most important match so far this season, we are going to battle with all we got for victory.”

"APR have shown they are a strong team, we cannot take any chances against them.”

Ahead of their crunch, APR top the four-team table with six points and a three-goal-difference, SC Kiyovu are second with three points and one-goal-difference while Police – also at three points – have scored the same number of goals (2) they have conceded.

Of the four teams in the tournament, only winless Mukura have zero chance on the title.

In a separate interview, APR coach Mohamed Adil Erradi challenged his players to display the best of their ‘winning mentality’ on Saturday, arguing that Kiyovu – despite not winning titles – remain one of the best teams in local football and cannot be underestimated.

"We cannot afford to lose focus against Kiyovu,” the Moroccan tactician insisted.

"A draw would be enough but that is not what we will be targeting. We want to win.”

The tournament’s winners will pocket Rwf6 million in cash prize, with the first runners-up receiving Rwf4 million. Second runners-up and bottom side will settle for Rwf3 million and one million, respectively.

In the meantime, Scandinavia have won the title in women’s category and Rwf2 million token after beating rivals AS Kigali 1-0 on Friday. Jeannette Ukwinkunda scored the lone goal.
