Entertainers treated comedy fans to a memorable night of rib cracking jokes and laughter.

Despite the January blues, comedy lovers did not spare Seka Live show on Sunday, as the venue at Kigali Marriot Hotel was packed to capacity.

As anticipated, UK-based Malawian comedian Daliso Chaponda and the surprise act, Ugandan comedian Daniel Omara, who replaced Tanzania's Idris Sultan, as well as award-winning comedian Michael Sengazi left everyone in stitches throughout the show.

Revellers could not catch their breath when Daliso, the show’s main act, emerged on stage and told jokes that included comparing U.S. President Donald Trump with the 'intelligent' Barack Obama in the White House, to envisioning Jay-Z dumping his wife Beyonce and hooking up with Butera Knowless [Rwandan artiste] days later.

Fans thought Omala’s jokes were enough for them to go home, even if the rest of the lineup don’t perform.

However, the show seemed like it had just begun, when Michael Sengazi came on stage. His jokes mostly emphasised the January blues and how people struggle with festive season financial hangovers, highlighting the tough beginning to the New Year after weeks of festivity.

When it came to the local, everyone could confirm that the future was indeed promising for the young comedians, who are being nurtured through the monthly comedy concept, courtesy of Arthur Nation, the company that organises the show.

The likes of Fred, Zaba Missed Call, female comedian Feux Rouge and Nimu Roger, who had quite an amazing performance with interesting and well-crafted jokes, have incredible potential to follow in the footsteps of fast-rising comedians like Babu, Joshua and Sengazi, among others.

At the end of the show, the organisers announced American comedian Usama Siddiquee and South Africa’s Lindi Ndumiso as the main headliners for next month’s edition of Seka Live scheduled for February 29.
