Friday Police vs Musanze 15:00

POLICE will be looking to leapfrog Rayon Sports into the second position – at least for 24 hours – when they take on Musanze at Kigali Stadium on Friday. Kick-off 3pm.

The law enforcers side go into the match trailing second-placed Rayon by one point, with the latter playing their match-day 17 fixture against AS Kigali on Saturday.

After dropping points in a 2-2 draw with Sunrise last weekend, Police should expect a test against 13th-placed Musanze who seek to move up the table after picking up just 15 points from their 16 matches.

The struggling Musanze District-sponsored side stunned seventh-placed AS Muhanga 2-1 on Sunday, and face Francis Haringingo’s team looking to win two matches in a row for the first time this season.

Speaking to Times Sport, Haringingo said, "It is very important that we win against Musanze, it is a chance for us to cut the gap to the top then wait and see how other top teams perform.”

"It will be difficult, and we are ready to put in the required work for victory.”

He further challenged his players: "We need to control the possession and be sharp upfront. We cannot let anything to chance again.”

The Burundian tactician has vowed to guide Police to a major trophy in his maiden season after joining the club from league archrivals Mukura at the end of last season.

Ahead of the weekend action, APR – who face Bugesera on Sunday – top the table with 38 points, four ahead of Rayon. Police are third with 33, while Mukura complete top four with 25 points.

Newcomers Heroes FC are bottom with 8 points, one adrift of 15th-placed Gicumbi.
