Amavubi striker Ernest Sugira has joined Rayon_Sports from top-flight table leaders APR, on a six-month loan, which will see him stay with the Blues until the end of the current 2019/2020 Rwanda Premier League.

The news of the deal broke Monday morning, December 30, after it was initially rumoured that the 28-year old would join Police FC but which was later refuted by officials at the Army side.

Sugira’s transfer deal to APR archrivals was signed between Rayon’s CEO Bernard Itangishaka King and APR’s Executive Secretary Lt Col Sylvestre Sekaramba.

According to Rayon officials, Sugira will be critical for the Blues in their different campaigns including the national league, the Peace Cup and Heroes' Cup.

The one-time Rwanda’s most expensive player has just ended two months suspension as a disciplinary action that resulted from comments he made in local media where he said he finds himself more comfortable playing for the national team Amavubi as compared to his club, where he had struggled to make the first team.

Sugira joined APR in 2017 on a one-year-contract for a second spell having been let go by the military side to join AS Kigali two years before.

From AS Kigali, he had penned a mega contract with AS Vita Club, a Congolese club on a transfer deal worth Rwf102m which billed him the most expensive player in Rwanda until Muhadjir’s move to the United Arab Emirates mid-this year, at a reported $300,000 (about Rwf274 million).

With number 16 on his jersey, the CHAN 2016 forward star has had a turbulent season in APR characterised by injuries, sanctions and not scoring.

Third-placed Rayon Sports will have to meet the striker's monthly salary of Rwf900,000.
