Volleyball: Kirehe to organise Gisaka Open

Kirehe District, through their signature volleyball club, will organise the first ever Gisaka Open Volleyball tournament.

The competition has been scheduled for December 13-15 in Kirehe, with about 20 teams expected to take part.

According to Lambert Muhawenimana, president of Kirehe Volleyball Club, the event will be played every year, attracting league and non-league teams under different categories.

"The tournament is our contribution in the development of volleyball in Rwanda. We want to make it an annual event, and we are confident it will be a high level competition.”

The tournament is a product of partnership between Kirehe District and the local volleyball governing body – FRVB.

League teams to participate:

Women: UTB, RRA, Kirehe, IPRC Huye and APR

Men: UTB, APR, IPRC Ngoma, Kirehe and Gisagara

Veteran teams:

Kirehe Unity Veterans, BPR, Relax, Mambas, Kinyinga, Foundre and Mahamba
