After being away from the local music scene, Janvier Muhoza, is making a fresh comeback with the release of his new album titled, ‘Izabikora’.

"So I have decided to make a comeback with an album, as my way of expressing my gratitude towards my fans who have always stuck with me through these years. I feel they deserve it,” the singer said of the album.

In an interview with The New Times, the singer and former winner of the 2015 Groove New Artiste award, noted that the album is composed of eight-tracks including, ‘Yewe Yesu’, ‘Iratwibutse’, ‘Ubutumwa’, and ‘Mfit’ibyiringiro.’ It also features collaborations with renowned local gospel artistes Gaby Kamanzi and Aime Uwimana.

The singer took a break from music in 2016, to concentrate on education. "It wasn’t easy juggling both music and studies, so I decided to finish school and embark on music afterwards,” said Muhoza.

After graduating this year, the gospel singer has decided to resume his music career.

Born in the DR Congo, and grew up in the former Butare prefecture (now Southern Province), Muhoza started singing as a child at his local church choir, and by the age of 13, he would go on to become the choir’s lead soloist. He said he was inspired to do gospel music by Rehoboth and other gospel artistes who were popular at that time.

"I really loved to sing, and I prayed to God to allow me to Him serve Him through music.”

As for the future, Muhoza hopes people will enjoy his album, and said he has plenty of songs in pipeline.

"Right now, I am actively recording new materials to complete another album. I am also working with different producers and gospel artistes to give my album variety.”
