Former Kenyan fast bowler Martin Suji has returned to Rwanda cricket after coaching the men's national team in 2018.

Suji joins for this second stint but this time in a bigger role as the local cricket governing body’s (RCA) Technical Director on a two-year deal.

"Rwandan cricket has come a long way, the youngsters are really hungry for success. I felt that I could help get to another level, and I am looking to the journey,” said Suji.

The Kenyan legend will continue the work he started last year when he was in charge of the national team during the T20 Africa B World Cup qualifiers that were hosted by Rwanda.

During that period, he was signed on a short term - four months – basis, but he left a big impression.

According to Emmanuel Byiringiro, the RCA Secretary-General, the new technical director’s main goal is to improve the overall outlook of the national teams – youth, men and women.

"He (Suji) will be tasked with raising the capacity of the local coaches alongside preparing the national teams for competitions. We need to change how we approach our games, and with his experience in the game, he stood out as the right person for the job.”

Suji is familiar with cricket in the region having previously coached the Ugandan and Kenyan national teams. During his playing career, he represented Kenya in three Cricket World Cups.
