TWENTY young tennis players completed a three-day wheelchair tennis training camp on Sunday.

Since the introduction of wheelchair tennis in the country two years ago, this training camp was the first of its kind. Coach Innocent Rukundo conducted the training from Thursday to Saturday at Amahoro Stadium.

"It’s our duty as coaches to help these young talents,” Rukundo said after the training.

"We have so far set up three centres in Nyanza, Musanze and Nyamagabe and we will keep trying to reach out to more players and do regular follow-ups.”

Vanessa Niyonkuru, one of the players who benefited from the training, said "This training was very important. We were taught new skills.”

This publication understands that during this year’s Rwanda Open, there will be a competition for wheelchair tennis late this month.
