The national volleyball champions, Rwanda energy Group (REG), will be looking for a winning debut to their title defence when they face former champions APR on Saturday afternoon.

Benon Mugisha’s REG clinched the 2018/2019 league title in May after beating Gisagara in the playoffs finals.

"Facing APR in our opener is a big test. They are a good team, with big history,” REG coach Mugisha said about his side’s opponents on Saturday. "We want to start with a victory, so we must work hard for it.”

"My players are fit for the challenge.”

In other games of the opening weekend, two-time champions Gisagara face Kirehe in Kirehe District, while IPRC-East host hopefuls UTB in Ngoma District.
