Patriots have turned attention to the second edition of the Legacy Basketball Tournament that runs from November 7-10 at Kigali Arena.

Reigning champions Patriots claimed the tournament’s inaugural edition last year after beating Espoir 86-84 in a nail-biting final while IPRC-South were the winners in women’s section after edging APR 66-57.

Patriots team captain, Aristide Mugabe hailed his teammates for another successful season before challenging them to remain in a competitive mood until the end of the 2018/2019 campaign.

"The Legacy Basketball Tournament is good preparation for the BAL tournament and we want to retain this competition because we have experience and confidence,” said Mugabe

The teams that will compete in tournament are Patriots, Rwanda Energy Group Basketball Club, APR, IPRC- Kigali, United Generation Basketball and Espoir.

Mugabe will be leading his team after a successful season in which he powered his club, Patriots to a second successive league title last month before dominating Group D to reach the second and final round of the 2020 Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers a fortnight ago.

The 2019 edition has attracted 13 teams under three categories; the men’s professional category, women’s professional fray and the men’s veterans’ competition.
