Benediction club youngster Renus Byiza Uhiriwe has won his first race in senior category following a triumphant showing at this year’s Muhanga Circuit on Saturday.

Uhiriwe, 19, won the 48.6km lap race in Muhanga in a stunning time of one hour, 10 minutes and 55 seconds.

Crossing the line five seconds later, Nyabihu Cycling Club’s Uwiduhaye finished second while his teammate Jean Damascene Ruberwa was third, 25 seconds further.

In the men’s junior category, Emmanuel Nzayikorera romped to victory after timing his sprint to edge Jean d’Amour Muhawenimana on the line. Etienne Tuyizeye came in third place.

Rwanda international Diane Ingabire claimed the top honours in women’s section, followed by Claudette Nyirarukundo and Valentine Nzayisenga, respectively.

This was the sixth race on this year’s Rwanda Cycling Cup line-up after the Northern Circuit, Rwamagana Circuit, Tour de Kigali, Kivu Race and the 3rd Criterium Lambert Byemayire.
