It will be a clash of egos and different objectives when Police and AS Kigali go head-to-head in Rwanda Premier League at Kigali Stadium on Saturday, starting at 3pm.

On one end, Police will be looking for a victory that would lift them to the summit of the table, while, on the other end, AS Kigali seek to save what’s left of their chances for this season’s league title after only managing one win in the opening six matches.

Ahead of the highly anticipated encounter between the 2015 Peace Cup winners, Police, and this year’s cup winners; Police are third with 12 points whereas AS Kigali lie in ninth position with 7 points.

Francis Haringingo has urged his Police troops to replicate their recent form this weekend.

"It is a big game for us. AS Kigali are a good side, with a blend of young and experienced players, so they will definitely fancy their chances against us. We will need to be careful,” said the former Mukura coach, who crossed to Police in June.

"I have big respect for AS Kigali and expect a real fight from them, but we need to concentrate on ourselves. It is a must-win game.”

The Burundian tactician seeks to become the first coach to lead Police to their first league silverware in the club’s 20-year existence.

However, his opposition counterpart, Eric Nshimiyimana, believes that his AS Kigali side have nothing to fear from Police despite their recent slump in results.

"I know Police is a good side with quality and experienced players, but we will try to come up with the right formula that can help us to get a good result. We really need to change our trajectory,” said Nshimiyimana.

In other matches on Saturday, Etincelles host hometown rivals Marines at Umuganda Stadium, Bugesera face AS Muhanga at Bugesera Stadium while Sunrise will be up against bottom side Gicumbi at Nyagatare Stadium.
