RWANDA’s APR women volleyball have reached the final of the 2019 Nyerene International Championship Cup after edging Jeshi La Kurinda Taifa, of Tanzania, in semi-finals on Sunday.

The week-long multidiscipline event, also known as Nyerere Cup, is held every year in honour of former Tanzania President Julius Nyerere. This year’s edition was held in Arusha.

APR, who won the women’s volleyball tournament in 2017, have a chance to reclaim the title on Monday when they face Kenya’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in the final.

Holders DCI set up the final date with APR, also on Sunday, after outshining compatriots Hakika in straight (3-0) sets.

The Rwandan side, APR, were the first to seal their final berth, following their solid performance (25-15 25-21 25-11) against home team Jeshi.
