AS Muhanga beat Gicumbi to get first win

JEAN Claude Harerimana scored the lone goal at Mumena Stadium as AS Muhanga beat Gicumbi register their first victory in the 2019/2020 Rwanda Premier League on Wednesday.

"The boys were fantastic. We deserved the win,” AS Muhanga coach Abdu Mbarushimana told Times Sport in a post-match interview. "We now have to go back and prepare for the next game.”

The Muhanga-based side, who face new entrants Gasogi United in their next match on Saturday, played out a 1-1 draw against Musanze in their season opener last weekend. 

In other matches on Wednesday, in-form Etincelles thrashed Heroes FC to storm to table summit with a perfect six points, while Gasogi won 1-0 over Marines. SC Kiyovu beat Espoir 1-0, Sunrise held Mukura to a goalless draw whereas Police also failed to overcome Musanze.

After two match rounds, champions Rayon Sports, giants APR, hopefuls Mukura and Police as well as AS Muhanga are all level with four points.
