RWANDA Premier League new entrants Gasogi United have vowed to end the dominance of reigning champions Rayon Sports and 17-time champions APR.

APR were held to a 1-1 draw by AS Kigali last night, while Rayon take on Gasogi in their first game of the new 2019/2020 season on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium. Kick-off 3pm.

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Gasogi founder and president Charles Kakooza Nkuliza – commonly known as KNC – has warned that his team is not coming in the topflight league to ‘participate just or enjoy a mid-table status’.

Talking to Saturday Sport, Kakooza said, "We are ready for life in topflight league. The players are fit and mentally prepared to fight for the three points against Rayon Sports.”

Gasogi look to condemn Rayon to a second loss this week after the latter’s defeat to AS Kigali in the Super Cup match on Tuesday.

"We want to fight for the tile – not to participate – and that challenge starts with Rayon. They are known as a big team, but we are not scared of them or of anyone else in the league. All we are focused on is the three points,” he added.

The club have announced that they will use Rwf 168million this season, with 70 per cent of the budget coming from their main sponsors – XL Energy Drink.

In other matches on Saturday; Bugesera take on Heroes – also newcomers in the league – whereas Etincelles host SC Kiyovu. Mukura also delight Espoir at Huye Stadium.
