Renowned manager to one of Rwanda’s biggest music label Kina Music has cleared the air amidst a saga involving rumors of an extramarital affair after a sum of Rwf 1,925,000 was withdrawn by unknown people from the account of the music label.

Clement Ishimwe says money was withdrawn from a local bank  after thugs stole his chequebook, successfully forging his signature and swapped his number so that all calls made in connection to the withdrawn money would be replied to by the thieves.

"Those people were able to steal my chequebook and also forge my signature. Not only did they do that but were also able to swap my phone number because they knew there would be a need of the bank to talk to me concerning the money," he told The New Times.

Clement notes that the bank usually calls him every time somebody is withdrawing an amount exceeding a million and this very time, the bank called but the thieves picked and authorized the withdrawal. Everything was working out in their favor.

However, many allegations have since followed the incident with some claims indicating that the money was being paid by Clement to cover up an extramarital affair with a certain soldier’s wife.

Clement says that he is being blackmailed and defamed by the thieves who want to divert the issue from their actions of stealing.

"The said lady Honorine Mukeshimana is the one who signed against the cheque and also included her National ID number and was told to fabricate that lie and she did exactly as she was told," he said

Matters are is now in court and the suspect has been in police custody for some time.

Ishimwe also said he couldn’t divulge much information as the case was in court and investigations were on-going and cautioned media outlets to be careful about what they publish about the case as it is a sensitive one.
