One of Rwanda’s biggest names on the music scene Social Mula has been nominated for the Prix Découvertes Awards and has expressed his excitement as it is his first time to be nominated outside Rwanda.

Known for a number of songs such as "Ma vie”, "Kundunduro”, and "Humura’’, Social Mula has been nominated in the annual Awards that were won by fellow Rwandan Yvan Buravan, last year in the French capital, Paris. 

The singer, real name Lambert Mugwaneza, is pitted against fellow Africans from French-speaking countries, (which the awards target) such as Yann’Sine from Morocco, Zonatan from Mauritius, Ng Bling, Bebe Baya from Guinea, Cysoul and Lydol from Cameroon, Anycris from Ivory Coast, Nasty Nesta from Benin, as well as Celine Banza from the Democratic Republic of Congo. 

In a telephone interview with The New Times, Social Mula said that being nominated for such a big award shows that his music is appreciated by his fans and asked them to keep doing the same as they are his source of motivation. 

"I am just happy and grateful that I have been nominated for such an international award and it is my first nomination outside the country,’’ he said

"I want to thank all my fans for supporting me and I have a lot in stock for them, including new music that is dropping next month as well as an album launch that is slated for November on dates that I am yet to confirm,’’ he added.  

The "Ndiho” singer requested his fans worldwide to go to the website of the Prix Découvertes, and vote for him as the voting exercise will be closed on October 16. He said the support from the fans will go a long way in ensuring that Rwanda wins the Awards two times in a row.
