2019 Agaciro Cup

Saturday APR vs Mukura 13:00 Rayon vs Police 15:30

There will be renewed rivalries at Amahoro Stadium on Friday afternoon when hopefuls APR face Mukura while later in the day Rayon Sports will be up against Police in this year’s Agaciro Development Fund tournament.

APR will be hoping to win their first Agaciro Cup title after losing in last year’s final.

Speaking to Times Sport on Thursday, APR head coach Adil Erradi said, "We have prepared well for this important tournament and our mission is to win it.”

"So, the game against Mukura is a must-win for us.”

On the other hand, Olivier Mathurin Ovambe has also vowed to guide Mukura to their first title since winning the Peace Cup last year. However, he also challenged his players to "expect a tough and tricky game.”

"We are going to give everything on the pitch. The players are in a good state mentally and are all fit. We have no injury in the team,” said the Cameroon-born tactician.

Winners of the 2019 Agaciro Cup will receive Rwf3 million, with the losing finalists receiving Rwf1.5 million while the second runners-up will walk away with Rwf500,000.

Initiated in 2015, Agaciro Development Fund football tournament is staged annually as part of the effort to raise funds for the Agaciro Development Fund, the country’s sovereign wealth fund.

Police, who face Rayon, won the inaugural edition before the latter clinched it back-to-back in 2017 and 2018. The tourney was not held in 2016.
