After losing Game 4 over the weekend, Patriots basketball club will be on a do-or-die mission to save what is left of their attempt  to retain the league title when they face Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in Game 5 of the playoffs finals on Wednesday.

The game starts 9pm, at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.

REG have dominated the series with three consecutive victories after losing Game 1 earlier last month, and a victory tonight will seal them their second championship, in the club’s short history, following the 2017 success in their maiden season.

According to Patriots captain Aristide Mugabe, "the finals are not decided yet” and has urged his teammates to "believe and fight till the very last second.”

"Of course the game will come with a lot of pressure, we will need to be mentally strong and try to make the best out of every ball. We can’t afford blunders that cost us in the last three games.”

Mugabe, 31, is a six-time champion, having helped Espoir to four championships between 2012 and 2015 before winning two more with Patriots, in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
