September 15 Rwanda vs Kenya Egypt vs Zimbabwe

Rwanda’s women sitting volleyball team will begin their title defense at this year’s ParaVolley African Championships against Kenya. The tournament is scheduled for September 15-17 in Kigali.

The country will also host the men’s championships, starting from September 19 through 22.

Following the low turn-up in women’s fray, where only four countries will be vying for a ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, the competition will be in a round-robin format.

After their opening match against Kenya, the hosts will next play Zimbabwe, on September 16, before facing Egypt the following day.

When asked which side his players should wary the most about, head coach Jean Marie Nsengiyumva singled out Egypt but urged them not to underrate any opponent.

"We have a good record in the competition, but that should not be a reason to fall complacent. Egypt are (likely) going to be our toughest challengers, but we can’t underestimate anyone,” he said.

"We will consider and approach every game as a final.”
