Friendly match

September 18

DR Congo Vs Rwanda

2020 CHAN Qualifier

September 22 (first-leg)

Ethiopia Vs Rwanda

The national football team – for home-based players – will have a friendly match against their DR Congo counterparts at Stade de Martyrs on September 18, Rwanda FA has confirmed.

The game will serve both sides as warm-up before engaging in the final round of qualifiers for the 2020 African Nations Championships (CHAN) finals tournament.

Vincent Mashami’s Rwandan side will face Ethiopia, with the first-leg due September 22 in Addis Ababa, while DR Congo will be up against the Central African Republic.

The friendly match, only the fourth meeting between Rwanda and DR Congo in the last 15 years, will be Amavubi’s last assessment for Mashami before the team flies to Addis on September 19. Rwanda leads the two neighbours’ head-to-head record 2-1.

Established in 2009 and exclusively designed for players who feature in their domestic leagues, the 6th edition of the biennial continental showpiece will be held in Cameroun next year.
