A group of several local artistes will this Sunday stage a concert to raise funds for the treatment of nine-year-old Esther Ishimwe, who is suffering from a brain injury.
At the moment, Ishimwe is in a sorry state as she can neither walk nor talk. In March 20, last year, she suffered a fatal accident on the while in Primary Three, on her way back from school in Kabuga, where she stays with her parents. Her brain got badly damaged that put her into a coma for two months.
She later spent six months under medication at King Faisal Hospital but referred to Mendata Hospital in India for kine-therapy so she could walk again, after trying several hospitals, including the Nairobi capital
Gospel singer Eddie Mico spearheaded the charity concert as the first step towards raising the required $20,000 that is required for Ishimwe’s treatment, and expenses.
The concert dubbed ‘’Stand for Esther Charity Concert’’ will be held at Galaxy Hotel on September 8 from 3:30 PM. Entrance to the venue is Rwf5, 000 and will come with soft drink. All proceeds from the concert will go towards Esther’s treatment.
Mico told The New Times that the event is about humanity and that every person that has love for mankind should come out and support such a noble cause and help Esther be able to walk and talk like she used to before the accident.
He added that other charity events are will be organised, depending on the proceeds that will have be collected from the first event that will take place on Sunday.
‘’We shall see how much money will be collected from the first event and see how we can organise others such as car washes among. However, if we are lucky and we get the entire amount at once, then there will be no need for other fundraisers,’’ he said.
Gospel singers Rene Patrick, Aline Gahongayire, The Pink, Dinah Uwera, Eddie Mico, Joy Kaqueen, James and Daniella, Oliver Kavutse, Colombus, Arsene Tuyi, Dorcus A, are some of the artistes that will perform, while a number a number of ‘’secular’’ artistes have pledged their support.
They include Yvan Buravan, Tom Close, Mani Martin, MC Tino, Yago, Mike Karangwa and comedian Clapton Kibonke who also confirmed his attendance his participation. The artistes have since called out to the public to come support towards a good cause and save a life.
