KMC 1-2 AS Kigali

AS Kigali have defied the odds to reach the first round of the 2019/2020 Caf Confederation Cup after edging out Tanzania’s KMC in the preliminary round on Friday.

Eric Nshimiyimana’s men stunned KMC 2-1 at Uwanja wa Taifa, in Dar es Salaam, after both sides played out a goalless draw in Kigali a fortnight ago.

Midfielder Rashid Kalisa put the visitors ahead after 29 minutes and Eric ‘Zidane’ Nsabimana would double the score in the 64th minute before Yousouf Ndikumana netted the consolation goal for the hosts.

AS Kigali, winners of the 2019 Peace Cup tournament, dominated the second period and almost scored on two occasions, only for KMC goalkeeper Djuma Kaseja to come to their rescue with big saves.

The Rwandan side will either face Uganda’s Proline or Malawi’s Masters Security Service in the next stage.
