However poor communication between defender Hussien Habimana and goalkeeper Yves Kimenyi gifted the visitors who scored in the 25th minute through striker Nazir Hamid Nassir.

Al Hilah goalkeeper Yonis Altayeb Hassan important saves as Rayon Sports went on the attack after conceding.

Both teams missed crucial chances in the second half as Rayon Sports chased a winning goal.

Fabrice Mugheni Kakule, Sarpong and Iranzi who sighed from rivals APR had good game especially in the second half as the Sudanese side pushed for another away goal.

The return leg will be played in a week’s time in Khartoum. Rayon will need a draw of more than two goals or a win so that they can reach the first round of the Caf Champions League.

The winner between two sides will meet the former African champions Enyimba, who succumbed 1-0 away to Rahimo of Burkina Faso.
