Rwandan born-choreographer and actress Sherrie Silver, has been nominated for this year’s African Muzik Magazine Award, together with The Ben and Butera Knowless.

The African Muzik Magazine Awards, also known as AFRIMMA, recognises the biggest talent from across the continent, were announced this week.

UK-based Sherrie, 25, was recently appointed as rural youth advocate for the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and is also known in Childish Gambino’s famous "This is America”. The second one, U.S-based The Ben, born Benjamin Mugisha, is arguably one of Rwanda’s top R&B/pop acts in the diaspora, while Knowless Butera is a renowned songstress based in Kigali, is the third nominee.

The trio will battle out for the global music awards with Africa’s music superstars in the Best Male East Africa, Best Female East Africa, and Best African Dancer of the Year categories respectively.

Following his nomination in the Best Male East Africa category, The Ben took to social media to share his reaction, and expressed his excitement: "God is good! Thank you AFRIMMA for the nomination. How about we take it home Rwanda!”

Hopefully this is recognition for Rwanda’s contenders, who have demonstrated that they are exceptionally talented in their field.
