The national men and women volleyball teams on Wednesday travelled to Rubavu to start residential camp for the upcoming of the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

The three day tournament which will be held in Rwanda for the first time is set to take place at the Pearl beach in Rubavu from 21-24.

Sammy Mulinge, who is coaching the men’s team said there will be two training sessions daily for the players to acclimatize with the chilly weather in the Western district.

"We are taking 8 players at the moment because the others travelled to Japan for a tournament but will join us later. We want the players to get used to this weather because they have been training under humid conditions yet this place is cold. There are also other things we are going to work on which we don’t want to reveal,” Mulinge said.

Rwanda teams:

Men’s teams: Venutse Gatsinzi and Fils Habanzintwali, Christopher Mukunzi and Flavien Ndamukunda as well as the partnership of Alfred Muvunyi and Yves Niyonkuru

The women’s teams include: Charlotte Nzayisenga and Judith Hakizimana, Louise Muhoza and Hope Musaniwabo and, the pair of Christine Nyirarukundo and Pacifique Umulisa.
