Small forward Dieudonne Ndizeye scored 15 points as Patriots overpowered APR 80-60 in Game 5 to reach the basketball playoffs finals for a fourth year running.

The defending champions will meet hopefuls Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the best-of-seven finals after the latter brushed aside Espoir in the best-of-five semi-finals last weekend.

In the decisive game, played at Amahoro Stadium on Friday, Ndizeye inspired Patriots with 15 points and made 15 rebounds, while skipper Aristide Mugabe and Steven Havugintwari contributed 14 and 11 points, respectively.

Rwanda international and APR star Pascal Niyonkuru scored a game high 23 points but his one-man’s effort was not enough to power APR to their first playoffs finals since 2013.
