Defending champions Patriots and APR have forced their semi-final series into Game 5 after going level 2-2 over the weekend.

The decisive Game 5, scheduled for August 9, will determine the side that will face Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the playoffs finals of the 2018/2019 Bank of Kigali National Basketball League.

On Saturday, guard Parfait Ishimwe posted a game-high 21 points as APR bounced back to edge Patriots in a narrow 64-63 win after losing 69-53 in Game 3 the previous night.

Small forward Bienvenu Niyonsaba contributed 16 points to the hard-fought victory.

In the meantime, the 2017 champions, REG, have reached their third consecutive playoffs finals after overpowering Espoir in three games of the best-of-five semi-finals; 85-52, 66-54 and 79-58, respectively.
