After a signing spree of nine new players, Police have vowed to challenge for the 2019/2020 Azam Rwanda Premier League title. The new season starts in September.

The team will start their preseason training next week under new coach, Francis Christian Haringingo, who is also new at the club after crossing from Mukura last month.

The Burundian guided Mukura to the 2018 Peace Cup glory, the club’s first major title in 28 years.

Police have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market, with their latest acquisitions led by former APR’s quick-fleet winger Dominique Savio Nshuti.

"The new signings are aimed at building a title winning team,” Haringingo told Saturday Sport on Friday. And, without mentioning names, he noted that Police want to end the dominance of some clubs next season.

Other new arrivals at the law enforcers side include; Aimee Ntirushwa from AS Muhanga, Cedric Kubwimana and Yussuf Lule Munyakazi from Mukura, Emery Nimubona from Bugesera, Valeur Nduwayo from Musanze, Janvier Benedata from AS Kigali as well as two imports Eric Ndoriyobijya and Magloire Ndikumana from Burundi. 

"We signed these two players to strengthen some positions that were lacking to compete for titles. I am confident now we will be able to compete favourably with other big teams.”

Last season, Police finished fourth in the league with 50 points, 22 behind champions Rayon Sports and nine adrift of Mukura who finished third. APR were second with 65 points.
