Rayon Sports head coach Olivier Mathurin Ovambe has urged his players to stay focused as the nine-time league champions attempt to win their first Cecafa title in 21 years.

The Blues take on Uganda’s KCCA at Kigali Stadium in the first of four quarterfinal matches which will also see Tanzania’s Azam challenging African bigwigs TP Mazembe.

Tomorrow, APR will play Maniema Union while Gor Mahia take on Green Eagles FC.

"I know nothing about KCCA FC but when the time to play against them comes I believe we shall be good to go. I have to appreciate my players, they have given everything and I am convinced they are good enough to win this competition,” Rayon Sports new coach Ovambe said about his side’s next opponent.

The Cameroonian coach fired the warning to his players after advancing to the quarter-finals of the CECAFA Kagame Cup against KCCA.

" There is definitely still work to do but we are hungry to score and advance to the semifinals.” Ovambe said

However, KCCA head Coach Mike Mutebi says that, he will be happy to face Rayon Sports, a team he thinks will give his side a good test when they face off in the quarter finals.

"Rayon is strong team and is on a high level. Facing them will be a good opportunity to weigh ourselves since both teams will be playing the CAF champions league tournament,” he said.

Star striker, Jules Ulimwengu is confident of continuing his good form which has seen him score three goals at the ongoing CECAFA-Kagame Cup.

The 19 year-old Burundian faces competition from the likes of Green Eagles forward, Kennedy Musonda who has three goals while others like Rainford Kalanda (TP Mazembe), Denis Oala (AS Maniema), Danny Usengimana (APR) and Jackson Muleka (TP Mazembe) have two goals each.

The quarter-final round winners will face-off in the semi-final round which will be played on July 19 while the final will be played on July 21.

The winner of the annual tournament stands to pocket $30,000 (Rwf.27 million) in prize money while runners up will receive $20,000 (Rwf.18 million) and $10,000 (Rwf.9 million) respectively.
