Rwanda to host FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour

Rwanda volleyball federation (FRVB), in partnership with Ministry of Sport and Culture (MINISPOC), has expressed readiness to host the 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, both in men and women categories.

The four-day event will run from August 21-24 on the shores of Lake Kivu in Rubavu District.

According to the Competitions Director of the Beach Volleyball World Tour, Christian Hatumimana said the volleyball courts, which will host the tour, are being worked on and will be finished on time.

However, the Secretary General of Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB), Adalbert Mfashimana said Rubavu Beach Volleyball Tour will attract 28 teams per gender from different countries around the world including three Rwandan Teams, and 86 Matches are set to be played during this competition.

"For Rwanda we have three teams in the men and women categories and they will start official preparations next week,” said Mfashimana

Rubavu Beach Volleyball Tour will be played in two phases; the Qualification Tournament (QT) and Main Draw Tournament (MDT). Qualification system; The Qualification Tournament will be played in a Direct Single Elimination Format.

The Main Draw Tournament will be played in a modified pool play system and then in single elimination system to come up with the champion, the run up and the bronze medalists.

Participating teams will be confirmed 21 days before the competition. The winners will be awarded medals plus prize money.
