Thursday Group C APR 4-0 Heegan Proline 1-2 Green Eagles

APR have progressed to the quarter-finals of Cecafa Kagame Cup with a maximum nine points after thumping Somali side Heegan in their last Group C match on Thursday.

They will face Group D first runners-up, who are to be determined on Sunday, for a semi-final spot on July 17.

Striker Dany Usengimana scored twice within two minutes as APR beat Heegan 4-0 at Kigali Stadium, with the other goals came from Claude Niyomugabo and Yves Mugunga.

Usengimana opened the scoring in the second minute before making it 2-0 in the third minute. His double registered two records at this year’s Cecafa Kagame Cup for the quickest goal and the quickest brace.

New signing Niyomugabo netted the third goal, while second-half substitute Mugunga completed the rout as strugglers Heegan ended their campaign without a single point.

In the meantime, Zambian side Green Eagles also secured their quarter-final ticket as first runners-up of the group after overcoming Proline, of Uganda, in a hard-fought 2-1 win.

The two-week tournament continues Friday afternoon with Group B action as leaders KCCA take on Mukura while two-time reigning champions Azam face Bandari.
