Giancarlo finishes seventh in Safari Rally

National Rally driver Giancarlo Davite finished seventh in the fourth round of the Africa Rally Championship (ARC) which concluded over the weekend at the Moi International Sports Complex in Kasarani.

Cruising a Mitsubishi Lancer, the Rwandan crew set off 12th from the ramp finishing 8th on Day1. On the second day, Giancarlo navigated by pace note reader Sylvia Vindevogel finished 7th overall clocking a time of 190.38.7 after tackling the last six competitive stages.

Baldev Singh Chager grabbed his third Safari Victory 2019 in a dramatic finish after Manvir Baryan lost track in the final stage of the rally.

Manvir was deprived of his maiden Safari Rally victory when his Skoda Fabia R5 got sucked in Kedong stage dust blocking the radiator, he lost 11 minutes that demoted him to third position overall.

Chager automatically uplifted to the lead finishing 33 seconds ahead of second-placed Carl Tundo

Chager who impressively kept within the top position automatically uplifted to the lead securing his third Safari rally victory. He finished 33 seconds ahead of second-placed Carl Tundo.

Carly Tundo kept the fight fierce finishing the event in second position overall, Ian Duncan came in fourth followed by Zambia’s Leroy Gomes in fifth.

Zambia’s Jassy Singh ended his rally jinx with the sixth position ahead of Giancarlo and Tejveer Rai in seventh and eighth position.

Over 48 crews started the tough rally but only 29 finished the event on Sunday, Yassin Naseer, Mahesh Halai endured the challenging event to compete for the top ten, Onkar Rai who was lying second is reported to have rolled his Skoda Fabia in stage eight, Ronald Sebuguzi, Eric Benhi, Kepher Walubi were among the causalities.

The last ARC event will be held in Rwanda from October 4-6, 2019.
