Group B: Mali, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea, Tunisia and Rwanda

Rwanda's Under-16 men national team have been drawn in Group B at the 2019 FIBA Africa Men’s U16 Basketball Championship, which gets underway Saturday in Cape Verde.

Yves Murenzi’s youthful side share the same group with giants Mali, Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Guinea, while Group B comprises hosts Cape Verde, Egypt, Nigeria, Angola and Algeria.

Making their third consecutive appearance in the biennial tournament, Rwanda start the title quest against Ivory Coast on Sunday.

Rwanda secured qualification last month after winning the regional FIBA Africa Zone V championship in Kigali.

The youth Afrobasket showpiece, which tips off with a clash between Mali and Tunisia at the Gymnasium Vava Duarte, also serves as qualifiers for the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2020.

The top four teams from each group will progress to the knockouts, starting with quarter-finals, while the bottom two will directly head into classification matches.

The third-place playoff and the final will be played on July 14.
