In Pictures: How Rwandans marked Liberation Silver Jubilee

Tens of thousands of Rwandans were yesterday joined by foreign dignitaries that included seven heads of state from different African countries to celebrate the 25th Liberation Day, which marks the rebirth of the country.

President Paul Kagame, who is the commander in chief of the armed forces, gave a keynote speech in which he paid tribute to the heroes who paid the ultimate price for the country to be liberated.

The national celebrations for Liberation Day were attended by seven foreign Heads of State.

Retired senior officers of Rwanda Defence Force (in civilian) attended the celebration of the liberation in which many of them took part. Behind them are serving officers from Rwanda and abroad.

The colourful parade that had Rwanda Defence Force and Rwanda National Police officers was commanded by Brig. Gen. John Baptist Ngiruwonsanga.
