Rayon Sports will be looking to make the best of their home advantage when they host Gicumbi in the first-leg of their quarter-final tie at Kigali Stadium.

With the decisive clash set for Sunday, the winner over the two legs will automatically advance to the last four of the ongoing 2019 Peace Cup tournament, which ends on July 4.

The Blues are largely seen as frontrunners for the title after the elimination of record nine-time winners APR and holders Mukura in the round of last-16, but coach Roberto Oliveira has warned his players, "do not get ahead of yourselves.”

"There is no room for complacency. We are not favourites (for the title) in any way, and there is no opponent to undermine. We are in knock-outs; every game is a final.”

Rayon have not won the Peace Cup title since 2016, and are also in hunt for a historic first domestic double after clinching the 2018/2019 league title last month.

Elsewhere on Thursday, second division side Intare FC face hopefuls SC Kiyovu at Kicukiro Stadium.

In the meantime, former winners Police (2015) and AS Kigali (2013) edged closer to semi-finals on Wednesday after winning their quarter-finals’ first-leg ties against Etincelles and Gasogi United, respectively.

Police, who recently appointed Burundian Francis Haringingo as their new manager, beat Etincelles 2-0 at Umuganda Stadium, while AS Kigali saw off Gasogi 2-1 at Kigali Stadium.
