I think we need to be tougher on people who embezzle public funds, by not only arresting them, but also making them to pay back what they stole.

If someone is accused of embezzling a certain amount of money, let his or her property be sold in compensation.

Look at the former Mayor of Rusizi district, Jean Pierre Turansinze and his former Executive Secretary, Boniface Bajyanama, who embezzled the district’s money.

These should be made to pay back through selling their properties. Similarly, all other cases should be handled with such seriousness, if we are to uproot the plague.
