APR coach Zlatko Krmpotić insists his side retains the edge in the race for Azam Rwanda Premier League title despite losing 1-0 to archrivals Rayon Sports last Saturday.

The result saw second-placed Rayon close the gap to three points.

But while the Serbian says the military side remains in commanding position, he has urged his players to stay focused with seven matches to go.

APR will face Bugesera on APR 27 at Kigali Stadium looking to collect all points and avoid what would be damaging slip-up.

"We have a good chance of retaining the league title,” Krmpotić said. "But we need to stay focused because we have seven matches still to play and anything can happen, especially now Rayon are just three points adrift.”

He added, "We need to improve on our form and try to win every match. The loss against Rayon Sports was not good for us but we still lead the table and it feels special.”

APR will face Bugesera on April 27 before Rayon travel to AS Muhanga.

"The race is not yet over and we need to fight for the remaining matches,” he said.

APR have relatively tougher fixtures than Rayon Sports.
