RWANDA ENERGY GROUP BASKETBALL head coach Patrick Ngwijuruvugo has vowed that his team will fight to stay on top of the table and go on to win the league title.

Ngwijuruvugo’s team on Saturday overcame IPRC-Huye 76-73 in grueling encounter, which earned them a place at the summit of the league, with 19 points, one ahead of defending champions Patriots.

Nyamirambo-based Espoir are third position with 17 points.

"Our prime target is to make sure we stay on top of the table, it will not be an easy task especially in the second round, but we will keep working hard to improve our game plan and try to do better in every game,” the Burundian tactician said

"The top four teams have a chance to win the league but if we keep winning our games and our rivals lose a couple of the matches between themselves, we will have chance to win league but the picture can easily change. That is why we will fight until the end” he added

Meanwhile, the defending champions, Patriots lost to Espoir 61-59 as the defending champions suffered their second consecutive defeat in the national basketball league. The two-time reigning champions had lost 81-78 to IPRC-Kigali the previous weekend.
