Mico is one of Rwanda ’s upcoming musicians; Bryan Kimenyi met him recording with Dr. Jacques at Ubuntu studio and asked about his career so far and off course, the feud between him and already established Dr. Claude.

Rwanda has produced many a promising musicians over the past years, but none has a future so defined as Mico Prosper, who burst onto the local music scene as a challenger to one of Rwanda’s most successful musicians; Dr. Claude.

Indeed, Mico knows controversy – you don’t become a common figure without ruffling a few feathers. But it’s not his beef with Dr. Claude that has propelled him just besides the greatest the country has to offer.

He says, "I joined music because I always wanted to be a successful musician.”

During his early years, he sang for the Church choir and this exposure, made him realize that he was just as good as the musicians he listened to on radio. He already has five songs attributed to him and is determined to release many more hits, as long as he lives.

When I met him at Ubuntu Studio, he was recording his new hit Biragoye, which he says is about the dilemma one faces when he has two girls and can’t select which one to commit his future to. Others songs by the Senior six leaver are; aka note ka bitanu, Iki Zimbabwe and Ikigenge.

So don’t expect to see this 23 year old making a disappearing act like most musicians do. In fact, like determined musician, he wants to set up his own recording studio when the resources have more than doubled.

"I wish not only to develop my career but also the standards of the face of music in the country and I can only do this, the time I own a production studio%2
