The National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC) has announced that ten countries have confirmed to take part in the forthcoming 2019 ANOCA Youth Games.

The inaugural edition of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone V Youth Games will run from April 2-6 in Huye District.

The ten countries include; Sudan, Burundi, Egypt, Eritrea, Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, France and Somalia.

According to RNOSC president, Valens Munyabagisha, the multidisciplinary event is designed for athletes between 16 and 18 years of age, and will be happening on a biennial basis.

"It is going to be a good platform for young talents in the region. Ten countries have confirmed their participation, and Ethiopia could soon join the line-up,” said Munyabagisha.

After the five-day competitions in Huye, in South Province, all the athletes and officials will head to Kigali where they will join Rwandans in the ‘Walk to Remember’ on April 7 at Amahoro Stadium as the nation will be marking 25 years since the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The youngsters will vie for honors in five different sports namely; cycling, athletics, taekwondo, beach volleyball and 3x3 basketball, a form of the game played with three players a side.
