Are you ready for the Burna Boy Xperience in Kigali?

Nigerian hitmaker Burna Boy, real name Damini Ogulu, arguably the poster boy of Nigerian pop music at the moment, will hold his first concert in Kigali on March 23, at the state-of-the-art Intare Conference and Events Arena in Rusororo.

Burna Boy is known for such club bangers as; Gbona, On the low, Miss you bad, Ye, and Rock your body, among others.

The 27-year-old from Port Harcourt, Nigeria first rose to musical prominence in 2012, following the release of- Like to Party, the lead single off his maiden studio album titled,L.I.F.E.

He released the album in 2013, and the following year, broke ranks with Aristocrat Records, moving on to form his own record label, Spaceship Entertainment.

The concert is being organised by local Events company, Entertainment Factory Ltd.

According to Mathew Rugamba, one of the partners in Entertainment Factory Ltd, tickets for the show are already on sale on Jumia (free delivery included), and at Choma’d Bar and Restaurant in Nyarutarama.

Rugamba further disclosed that the "Burna Boy Xperience” in Kigali was being organised in partnership, with the Visit Rwanda tourism initiative, that seeks to spur tourism inflows into the country:

"As a company (Entertainment Factory Ltd), one of the things we are working on is making the City of Kigali more vibrant. With the country’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) strategy, we have seen a lot of conferences and meetings coming to Rwanda, but the Events sector is still lagging behind. This is why we chose to bring in a musician like Burna Boy, who is currently at the peak of his career. It is a unique opportunity at an amazing space with world class facilities. People see it more as a venue for conferences and meetings, yet it is a prime location for a concert of that stature. We want the Intare Conference Arena to always be identified with world class events.”

Burna Boy is a graduate of Media Technology from the University of Sussex in England, and Media Communication and Culture from Oxford Brookes University. After university, he signed a record deal with Aristokrat Records, thereby officially launching his music career.
