The title credentials for APR will be put to test when they host eleventh-placed Etincelles in a match-day 20 clash at Kigali Stadium on Saturday afternoon, starting at 3:30pm.

Etincelles held the 17-time champions to a goalless draw during the two sides’ first-leg encounter in January.

APR, who beat Marines 2-0 on Wednesday, will be hoping to hold their nerve against Abdul Nduhirabandi’s side as any slip-up in their title defence bid would work in Rayon Sports’ favor.

The Blues were due to face Bugesera Friday night, and a win would lift them to the Azam Rwanda Premier League summit with 46 points. By press time, the game was yet to get underway.

"We have prepared well for the match, but certainly Etincelles are going to give us a tough contest, and we will have to be ready for it,” APR’s Serbian coach Zlatko Krmpotic told Saturday Sport on Friday.

"Etincelles are desperate for three points, but so are we!”

Last season’s third runners-up Etincelles beat AS Kigali on Thursday and Nduhirabandi will be looking for a second victory within 72 hours.

"Victory against APR would be very important. We have had some inconsistent runs lately but we have put that behind us, we can’t allow it to determine our fate,” he said.

Elsewhere, on Saturday, SC Kiyovu will be up against Sunrise at Mumena Stadium.
